About Us

Laser Swimming Club is a Teaching and Competitive Juvenile Swimming Club based at the Leisureland Pool in Salthill, Galway City, Ireland.

The club is registered with Swim Ireland (National Governing Body) and is affiliated to Connacht Region Swim Ireland.

Club Objectives

  • To teach swimming to children, in line with current best practice, from the age of four upwards in a safe, supportive and friendly environment,
  • To teach, prepare and coach swimmers to compete at their optimum ability,
  • To safeguard the well being of all its members.

Laser Swimming Club has two structures in place to help children develop from beginner swimmers to competitive athletes, a development structure and a competitive structure. Club Coaches and Committee

The duties and responsibilities of the coaching and teaching staff comply with the guidelines set out in ‘Swim Ireland Guidelines for Safeguarding Children’ or most recent edition.  Please see further details of the current coaches.

Refer any question about “swimming” to your child’s own coach first. If necessary the Head coach will be consulted. Coaches are generally available straight after a training session. If you need further discussion please arrange a meeting.

An executive committee acts as an overseer of the clubs activities and finances. Members of this committee are elected at the Annual General Meeting of the club.  Please see further details of the current committee members.

The club committee are entirely voluntary. Members are readily available for queries, suggestions, discussions and most particularly offers of help etc.Some Committee members are generally at the pool on Mondays.

Mission Statement

Laser Swimming Club aims to develop the swimming skills of its members through excellent teaching and coaching. Laser operates under Swim Ireland rules

Child Protection

Laser Swimming Club is committed to safeguarding the well being of all its members.  The club accepts and supports 

  • The Child Protection Guidelines adopted by Swim Ireland, and
  • “The Code of Ethics and Good Practice in Children’s Sport in Ireland”.

Codes of Conduct

Laser Swimming Club expects that members and those associated with the Club will conduct themselves appropriately at all times. To ensure a common understanding of behaviour,  a series of codes have been developed for swimmers, coaches and parents.  These are available to download as Laser Swimming Club Codes of Conduct. The annual declaration is available to download.  The completed declarations will be held by the secretary of the committee/club.

Club Photographs

Laser Swimming Club strives to ensure that all photographs published are of swimmers with appropriate dress.   All individual and portrait style photographs have been published with parental consent. In any event where photographs are published which may cause offence or may threaten the welfare of our members, please contact the club secretary or the child liaison officers (details on the notice board in Leisureland.) and the club will remove them accordingly.  This policy will also apply to any pictures on the Club Notice Board.
